Aaron’s fascination with the building trade began when he was a small child. He remembers watching and “helping” on a couple of projects for his church, alongside his dad. The feel of the job-site, watching the progression of the projects, and the resulting sense of pride upon job completion has always stuck with him. Eating lunch on the tailgate of a truck was a bonus!
He also remembers as a child watching countless episodes of “This Old House” with his mom, which taught him very early on the importance of doing these jobs properly and safely. This provided Aaron with a lifelong insight into the building trades.
During middle school and high school, Aaron took ALL the shop classes available (woods, metals, electronics, small engines, auto). He also took drafting classes, and excelled at it all. While most kids were making wooden boxes, Aaron made custom bunk-beds that he donated to FISH in Albany.
During Aaron’s junior year of high school, he participated in a statewide metal working competition and earned a silver medal. This accomplishment, along with being the top of his class, earned him a job at a local saw shop where he would manufacture custom saw blades and tooling, as well as welding and fabricating. Aaron then participated in the same competition his senior year, and took home the gold medal.
After high school, Aaron worked a number of different jobs, acquiring different skill sets. These included commercial construction, house painter, and attending LBCC for welding and metallurgy. Aaron also spent 5 years as skilled maintenance for Costco Wholesale Corporation. Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and equipment repair were just a few of Aaron’s job duties.
In the meantime, Aaron was doing construction projects for himself. Based on the quality of Aaron’s work, friends and family began utilizing his services to realize their own project dreams. This created a “side business” that lasted several years. Friends and family continually urged Aaron to start his own business, and he finally took the plunge. Through word of mouth and 100% commitment to customer satisfaction, A. C. Rowland Construction has become the full-time business it is today.
